About

We promote culture-based, decolonial architecture. To this end, we draw on local building traditions, materials, and social practices, developing them into contemporary, community-oriented solutions.

We are currently working on a solar-powered electricity and water supply for Rising Star School in Hopley, Zimbabwe. From August this year, we will expand the existing solar system so that electricity is supplied not only to the main building, which houses the administration offices and nursery, but also to all the other classrooms. We will also drill an additional borehole and install a solar-powered water pump. These improvements will enhance education, digitalisation, and hygiene. From 2027 onwards, our focus will be on building a school wall. This is intended to create safe spaces for learning, leisure, and amenities within the informal settlement.

Another project we are currently working on is the construction of the ‘Creative Village’, a gallery and art space for Dzimbanhete Arts and Culture Interactions. A place where cultural heritage, artistic work, and local entrepreneurship can all come together.

In partnership with local stakeholders, construction teams, and institutions, we act based on pan-African and ethical principles. We strengthen self-determination and local value creation, sustainably working to counter colonial power asymmetries.
