About

The aim of t-lab Holzarchitektur und Holzwerkstoffe is to initiate environmentally friendly developments and implement them in building culture.

The t-lab was founded in 2014 and is run by the Structures and Materials, Construction I and Design departments. The aim is to research and implement architectural and structural timber buildings in an efficient, consistent and sufficient construction method. Research focuses on the constructive design of large spans for use-neutral buildings, increasing the use of construction products made of beech wood, reversible load-bearing structures to increase circular value creation and hybrid composites. The development of climate-neutral construction methods and the material substitution of steel and reinforced concrete are our key priorities. Our research activities in this area illustrate our commitment. Another focus of the t-lab is networking with leading timber construction researchers and timber construction companies in Germany.
